Why I Published Our Story Under a Pen-Name

As many of you already know, I have chosen to write my story under a pen-name. I'm sure that most of my readers will understand my reasoning for doing so as they read the story. In part, it is to protect our family from any possible repercussion that may arise in connecting fictional characters to actual people. It is also in part to protect all friends, family, and others who may be involved in the story. Simply put, it is a matter of protection for all.

Many have asked where the name "Annie B. Carwyn" originated. I have chosen to live these past five years in light of Jesus' words that He gave on the Sermon on the Mount. The Beatitudes have been a source of comfort and healing for me:

3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
    for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
    for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
    for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11 “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. (Matthew 5:3-12)

I have reminded myself time and time again of the many ways that I am "blessed" as the Beatitudes have promised. It seemed only fitting to me that I selected a pen-name name that meant "blessed." Both "Annie" and "Carwyn" mean "blessed." :)  The initial "B" in the name is a nod towards my maternal grandmother (and I liked that the "B." would make my new initials "A.B.C., which for an educator, was kinda cool.) :)

With that, a new author was born... Annie B. Carwyn. May you in turn be blessed by her words.
